WHYY AND THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF DELAWARE OFFER TRASH OR TREASURE: A DAY OF ANTIQUES APPRAISALS
What's valuable in your attic, basement or right under your nose in the living room? WHYY and the Historical Society of Delaware are presenting TRASH OR TREASURE, a day of appraisals by area experts that will let you know what your antiques, collectibles and knickknacks are worth.
TRASH OR TREASURE is Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Historical Society of Delaware, 504 Market Street, Wilmington, Delaware. Bring your small furniture, glass, paintings, prints, china, toys, political memorabilia, clothing or jewelry for evaluation.
Let these and other experts be your guide: Tim Mullin, director of museums at the Historical Society of Delaware, for furniture, china, glass and ceramics; Alex Mullin, E-Bay trader, teacher and collector, for china, glass, silver and ceramics; Thomas Doherty, manager of Baldwin Book Barn, for rare books; Dorothy Wardell, founder and owner of the Costume Company of Wilmington, for textiles, costume jewelry and dolls; Thomas Beckman, collections manager at the Historical Society, for silver, prints and paintings; and Connie Cooper, manuscript librarian at the Historical Society of Delaware, for documents and manuscripts.
The cost of an appraisal is $20 for members of WHYY and the Historical Society of Delaware and $25 for non-members. Two additional appraisals are allowed at a cost of $10 each.
To register for TRASH OR TREASURE, call WHYY Member Services Hotline during the business day at (215)-351-0511 or the Delaware Historical Society at (302) 655-7161. You can also register online at whyy.org/trashortreasure.
