WHYY-FM’s RADIO
TIMES, one of the most respected weekday interview programs
on regional radio , will soon become a television program as
well. RADIO TIMES ON TV WITH MARTY MOSS-COANE, a one-hour weekly
series featuring the best interviews from the radio show, will
be broadcast on TV12 Fridays at 10:30 p.m. beginning December
19.
The first program will
feature Pulitzer Prize-winning author Toni Morrison discussing
her new book “Love;” Philadelphia Mayoral candidate Sam Katz
reflecting on the campaign; and Nathaniel Kahn talking about
his documentary, “My Architect,” about his father, noted architect
Louis Kahn.
The television program
will usually feature three interview segments drawn from the
previous week’s radio programs, and will reflect the wide range
of topics typical of RADIO TIMES.
RADIO TIMES, heard live
on 91FM weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon, is widely recognized
for its timely and provocative discussions. The program covers
social issues, current events, public policy, books, films,
and much more. Program host Marty Moss-Coane is known for her
ability to blend her own thought-provoking questions with comments
from callers to create a program that Philadelphia Magazine
has called “the best radio program in Philadelphia.”
WHYY Vice President and
Station Manager Paul Gluck says putting RADIO TIMES on television
is another important addition to WHYY’s unmatched news and public
affairs service.
“The television program
will bring Marty’s insightful interviews to a whole new audience,
while radio listeners will now have a chance to watch interviews
they might have missed during the week.”
RADIO TIMES ON TV will
retain much of the look and feel of a radio program. Moss-Coane
and her guests will continue to talk across the table in Studio
2 of WHYY’s Technology Center on Independence Mall in Philadelphia.
The multimedia studio, which was designed with top-of-the-line
radio acoustics, is also equipped with television lighting and
small, remotely-controlled, TV cameras. One operator in the
adjoining control room handles all of the camera controls and
TV switching.
All content for the production
is developed by the RADIO TIMES staff: Host and Executive Producer
Marty Moss-Coane, Senior Producers Susan Greenbaum and Alan
Tu and Producer Devorah Lissek.
Moss-Coane is already
known to TV12 viewers as the host of televised political discussions,
town meetings and debates, including the recent live election
night coverage of the Philadelphia mayoral election results.
As host of RADIO TIMES since its debut in 1987, she has earned
praise for her versatility and engaging conversations, whether
she’s interviewing celebrities, moderating aggressive political
foes or sharing the feelings of a mother who lost a child to
violence.
Producer of RADIO
TIMES ON TV WITH MARTY MOSS-COANE is Patty Hartman. Executive
Producer is Trudi Brown.
