WHYY-TV12’s MARCH MEMBERSHIP DRIVE OFFERS
EXCITING NEW PROGRAMS TO ENTERTAIN AND EDUCATE
WHYY’s March Membership Drive will not
only entertain viewers but educate them as well. Running from
Saturday, March 1 to Sunday, March 16, the drive will feature
appearances by Daniel O’Donnell, Loretta LaRoche and
Donna Dewberry. The goal for this year’s drive is $1,150,000
and 9,800 new members.
"With each passing year, WHYY continues to grow its presence
in television, radio, the Web and in the community,"
said Craig Hamilton, WHYY Executive Director of Development.
"None of these advancements would be possible without
the generous support of our members."
On Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m., watch LAWRENCE WELK: GOD
BLESS AMERICA, a two-hour musical tribute to America’s
freedoms, its leaders and its veterans. The program features
stars from the Welk Musical Family, including Anacani, Elaine
Balden, Bobby Burgess, The Lennon Sisters, Mary Lou Metzger
and Norma Zimmer.
On Sunday March 2 at 5:00 p.m., best-selling author and financial
expert Suzie Orman will share her unique approach to finances
in SUZE ORMAN: THE LAWS OF MONEY, THE LESSONS OF LIFE. This
new program conveys Orman’s belief that the universal
truths and lessons contained within each of her five laws
will show viewers how to keep what they have and create what
they deserve.
RHYTHM, LOVE AND SOUL will air on Sunday, March 2 at 7:00
p.m. This special brings together the giants of R&B, singing
their greatest hits from the 1960s and 70s. The queen of soul,
Aretha Franklin, leads an all-star line up that includes Gloria
Gaynor, Lou Rawls, Mary Wilson, Jerry Butler, The Spinners,
The Manhattans and more.
On Wednesday, March 5 at 8:00 p.m., Daniel O’Donnell
will be at WHYY to host DANIEL O’DONNELL AND FRIENDS.
Taped before an enthusiastic audience at the
Waterfront Hall in Belfast, O’Donnell demonstrates his
versatility in a
repertoire of romantic, pop and country standards, traditional
Irish tunes and lively dance numbers.
SANDWICHES YOU WILL LIKE will air on Saturday, March 8 at
5:30 p.m. This program travels across America, visiting its
most famous sandwich shops, including Philadelphia’s
George’s Sandwich Shop, Chickie’s Italian Deli,
Pat’s and Geno’s,
On Sunday, March 9 at 11:00 a.m., Donna Dewberry will be at
WHYY to present "PAINTING EXTRAVAGANZA." Learn basic
techniques, combination strokes, insider tips and more from
Donna Dewberry, the talented artist behind the "one stroke"
painting phenomenon — easy for everyone, including beginners
and expert decorative painters.
The WHYY-produced program IT’S A MITZVAH! JEWISH LIFE
IN THE DELAWARE VALLEY will air on Sunday, March 9 at 6:30
p.m. The program tells the extraordinary story of the Delaware
Valley’s Jewish community over the last 75 years.
Loretta LaRoche, America’s "siren of stress,"
will be in the WHYY studios on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30
p.m. to host LIFE IS SHORT…WEAR YOUR PARTY PANTS. La
Rouche offers heartwarming and hilarious new techniques to
cope with today’s challenging times. In her distinctive,
let’s-laugh-at-life style, the irrepressible LaRoche
delivers serious insights into the latest findings in the
mind/body field of health.
