WHYY ELECTS L. FREDERICK SUTHERLAND AS BOARD MEMBER
L. Frederick Sutherland, Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of ARAMARK Corporation, has been elected
to a two-year term on the Board of Directors of WHYY Inc.,
the prime public broadcasting station serving Pennsylvania,
Southern New Jersey and Delaware.
"Mr. Sutherland’s extensive financial experience
is an invaluable asset to WHYY and will greatly aid our strategic
goals to increase WHYY’s presence on-air, on-line and
in the community," said WHYY Board Chairman Molly Dickinson
Shepard.
Sutherland is responsible for financing, financial reporting
and control, mergers and acquisitions, corporate planning
and investor relations at ARAMARK, a leading provider of a
broad range of outsourcing services including food and support
services, uniform and career apparel services and childcare
and early education.
Sutherland joined ARAMARK in 1980 as Assistant Treasurer and
has held many positions at the company including Treasurer,
Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance and Development,
and President of ARAMARK’s Uniform and Career Apparel
Group. In 1997, he became Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of ARAMARK Corporation.
Prior to joining ARAMARK, Sutherland spent six years at Chase
Manhattan Bank in New York City where he was a Vice President
in the Corporate Banking department.
Sutherland has his undergraduate degree in physics and mathematics
from Duke University and an MBA in finance from the Katz School
of the University of Pittsburgh.
Sutherland is a member of the Trinity Board of Visitors at
Duke University and is President of the Board of Trustees
of People’s Light and Theater. He resides in Devon, PA
with his wife and two sons.
