SERIES, ON CANVAS, TAKES VIEWERS BEHIND
THE SCENES OF THE REGION’S RICH ARTS AND CULTURE
COMMUNITY
WHYY explores the Delaware Valley’s cultural community
in ON CANVAS , a new program premiering
on May 28 at 9 p.m. on the WHYY Y Arts Channel (on
the air channel 12.2, Comcast 241 and Verizon FiOS
874). Every Wednesday night at 9 p.m., On Canvas
will offer compelling, stories about the region’s
diverse cultural life. Every week, the series introduces
audiences to a new weekly performing arts experience
selected from the region's rich cultural landscape.
Each week, viewers will get a new glimpse
of the Delaware Valley’s vibrant cultural life.
Combining interviews with presentations in and around
Philadelphia, On Canvas delivers the new,
the unique and the classic. Programs feature vocalist
Natalie Walker performing at Johnny Brenda’s, a
bar, restaurant, and music venue located in the
Fishtown section of Philadelphia; Bob Musso's Transonic
Jazz Band performing at Media Bureau, an art gallery
located the the Northern Liberties section of Philadelphia;
the Philomel Baroque Orchestra performing at the
Mercer Museum in Doylestown; and classical Arabic
music with A.J. Racy and MidEast Ensemble at Lang
Performing Arts Center, Swarthmore College.
