CHILDREN'S EXPRESS
Listen via Real Audio to a radio dispatch: "Don't Choose Between Oppressors -- Prepare for Revolution," by Amanda Thieroff, age 15, and Mindy Chilman, age 16, reporters for Children's Express.
Children's Express is a Washington, D.C.-based organization that trains children to become reporters. The organization has stationed 30 students -- ages 11 to 18 -- at WHYY to report on the convention.
Stories by the children will be heard on All Things Considered and Morning Edition. On Wednesday, August 2, The Philadelphia Inquirer will publish an eight-page insert by Children's Express.
Children's Express journalists have covered every Republican and Democratic political convention since 1976. A Pulitzer Prize-nominated and Emmy Award-winning program, Children's Express has bureaus in Washington, D.C.; Marquette, Michigan; New York City, New York; London, England; and Newcastle, England. New bureaus will open in Belfast, Northern Ireland in September 2000 and Tokyo, Japan in January 2001.
