Dr. Jack Gelb is a Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at the University of Delaware’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in Newark, Delaware.
Dr. Gelb has been on the faculty at the University of Delaware for 27 years. His research focuses on avian influenza and other respiratory viruses of poultry and birds. He also coordinates avian disease diagnostic activities. Dr. Gelb works closely with the agricultural sector in Delaware and the Delmarva region. He is a member of Poultry Emergency Disease Task Force and Poultry Health Committee of the region’s poultry trade group, Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc.
Dr. Gelb received his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Georgia in 1979. He is a 1974 graduate of the University of Delaware and received his Master of Science degree from the University in 1976.
