A profile of Margaret Mead, perhaps the most famous anthropologist and certainly one of the most remarkable public figures of the 20th century.The special will present a diverse range of voices and views of Mead: her contributions to anthropology, her many controversial ideas and methods, and her lasting impact.

Part 1 will focus on Margaret Mead's life story and significant work.

To Cherish the Life of the World: 100 Years of Margaret Mead (Pt 2) Hosted by Diane Rehm
Part 2 will present a discussion between a panel of experts with questions from a live audience of anthropologists and members of the public. Diane will join with a leading Mead scholar, and contemporary luminaries in Anthropology to discuss how and why Margaret Mead became an icon in 20th century American culture.
