Voices In The Family May 200805/05/08 When we talk about attention deficit disorder, we usually hear about children - but what happens as these kids grow up? Up to 70% of them will be adults with ADHD. ADHD can have a dramatic impact on people's worklife, finances, relationships and even personal health. Dan Gottlieb and his guests will discuss Attention Deficit Disorder in Adults - the causes, genetics, effects and options for treatment. We're joined by Ari Tuckman and Kevin Murphy. Dan Gottlieb's guest is Dr. John O'Reardon, Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, whose research specialty is therapies for Treatment Resistant Depression. He will discuss the standard treatments as well as cutting-edge new methods. We will also hear from Zindel Segal, professor of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, who will discuss mindfulness meditation as a tool in treating depression. We'll be joined by the Gallagher family. John Gallagher attempted suicide in 1999, but he tried to hide what happened from family and friends. Even his own children didn't know the true story for several years. Recently, John has started to talk about his experience, and he and his family will join us to discuss their healing process. We'll also be joined by Dr. David Miklowitz, professor of psychology and psychiatry at University of Colorado and Oxford University, and author of Bipolar Disorder: A Family Focused Treatment Approach.
