Single Malt Barbecue Sauce

For this recipe you will need:

  • 2 14 ounces tomato ketchup
  • 3/4 cup whiskey
  • 1 T honey
  • 2 T dijon mustard
  • 1 T chopped garlic
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 t hot sauce
  • 1 t Worcester sauce
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t cayenne
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender and process until smooth.

Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula and pulse a few more times to make a smooth sauce.

Store in a sterilized container in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Remember to baste your meat with the sauce about 3/4 way through the cooking time -- put it too soon and it will burn.
