Think Italian food, and the first thing that comes to mind is pasta. But Italians love beans almost as much as they love their pasta, and during this hour, we'll discover delicious Italian bean recipes! Our guest is Judith Barrett, she has written Fagioli: The Bean Cuisine of Italy. Later on in the show, we'll hear from spa chef Daniel Orr who brings a taste of the Caribbean into our kitchen. We'll also learn how to keep meal preparation stress-free, fight off the flu, and find out what foods help alleviate the symptoms of menopause.

How has American cooking changed over the last six decades? During this hour, we'll go from Jell-O molds to fusion cooking in sixty years! Jim's guest is John Willoughby, co-editor of the new Gourmet Cookbook. Later on: Most of us have tried Indian food, but what is Pakistani food like? We'll hear from Huma Siddiqui who grew up in Pakistan and now teaches Americans how to prepare the cuisine of her home country. She has written Jasmine in her Hair, Culture and Cuisine from Pakistan. Finally, we'll take a tour through New York's Chinatown with food writer Calvin Trillin, and chat with Nigel Slater who relives his childhood through food in his new memoir Toast.
