What's the hottest city in France? Most people would immediately say "Paris", but food writer Daniel Young might make you change your mind. Young has fallen in love with France's Mediterranean Seaport, Marseille. Here, spices and ingredients from all over the world flavor an exciting and delicious cuisine. Young will share his favorite dishes and recipes and talk about his new book "Made in Marseille." Later on the show, we'll catch up with cookbook author Sally Schneider. She set out to change her eating habits, and discovered techniques that maximize flavor while keeping dishes lower in fat and calories. Her new book is "A New Way to Cook." We'll also get the latest information on Listeria and find out what we can do to keep our food safe.

We often share good stories over a bottle of wine, but sometimes, the bottle itself tells quite the tale! Jim Coleman's guest is wine expert Andrew Jones, also known as the Flying Wine Man. He has as many wine stories as he does bottles of wine. We'll also find out how you can write your very own wine story or journal. Greg Moore, author of "The Wine Chronicles," believes that we can learn something from every bottle we drink. Later on in the show, we'll fix up quick holiday appetizers and discover seasonal recipes from a little known Pennsylvania region.

The holiday season is about love, joy, family, and sharing great food. During this special Holiday edition of A Chef's Table, we'll hear a wonderful story that involves all of the above: A young couple spends a year in Italy to teach dancing. They find their true rhythm in the kitchen, and discover that what they really want to do is provide a wonderful place for others to eat, drink and be merry. Jim Coleman's guests are Deidre Heekin and Caleb Barber, they have written "Pane and Salute," and own a restaurant of the same name in Vermont. We'll also figure out how to rescue precious family recipes from oblivion. Later on the show, we'll sample some delicious holiday drinks and discuss their origins. Then, we'll also hear how the Mensch chef Mitchell Davis celebrates the Holidays, and find out which books make great gifts for the cook in your life.

Imagine a room bathed in the light of a flickering fire. The air is infused with the aroma of simmering stews and roasted vegetables. It's a slow food lover's dream - a return to the romance and comfort of the hearth. We'll get great recipes for fireplace cooking from William Rubel, author of "The Magic of Fire." Later on the show, we'll talk to Santa Fe Chef Martin Rios, who discovered you can go home again. We'll also take a walk in the woods with wild mushroom expert Bill Russel and learn why puffballs are like eggplant. Finally, our Chef's Table nutritionist will help us boost our immune system to get through the cold season.
