Imagine a room bathed in the light of a flickering fire. The air is infused with the aroma of simmering stews and roasted vegetables. It's a slow food lover's dream - a return to the romance and comfort of the hearth. We'll get great recipes for fireplace cooking from William Rubel, author of "The Magic of Fire." Later on the show, we'll talk to Santa Fe Chef Martin Rios, who discovered you can go home again. We'll also take a walk in the woods with wild mushroom expert Bill Russel and learn why puffballs are like eggplant. Finally, our Chef's Table nutritionist will help us boost our immune system to get through the cold season.

Bustling streets with little stores and restaurants, exotic vegetables tagged with hand written calligraphy, the aroma of steaming bowls of noodles; Chinatowns around the world are exciting and beautiful places. They are an expression of a resilient people and a culture spanning thousands of years. Chef and TV host Martin Yan recently toured eleven Chinatowns for his new book and television series. He'll share his favorite food finds and recipes with us. Later on the show, food writer Grace Young takes us shopping in Philadelphia's Chinatown and explains how her family uses Chinese herbs to make tonic soups and healing dishes. Finally, we'll follow culinary student Louisa Chu to Paris and find out what it's like to study at the famed Le Cordon Bleu.

Few things smell better than an apple pie baking in the oven, it's the sweet smell of home, the harvest season and Fall. Chef Jim Coleman will get a foolproof guide to making delicious apple pie and we'll try recipes from all over the country. His guest is Ken Haedrich, author of "Apple Pie Perfect." Later on, we'll visit a cider mill and taste heirloom apples at an orchard in the Hudson Valley. Finally, we'll find out what Mario Batali is cooking these days - known as the host of the Food Network program "Molto Mario" the successful chef and restaurateur has written a new book called "The Babbo Cookbook"

Chef Jim Coleman once spent Thanksgiving wearing a pink bath robe, de-boning a gigantic turkey. Why? Because he was supposed to impress his mother in law with a very complicated recipe, and the airline had lost all his luggage. Many of our greatest kitchen mishaps happen when we want everything to be perfect. So, this Thanksgiving, Chef Coleman urges you to forget "perfect." Instead, let's just enjoy this great Holiday! During this hour, we'll fix a turkey with all the trimmings, and find out what wines to serve with the meal. We'll also talk about the meaning of Thanksgiving with Brother Rick Curry, author of "Secrets of Jesuit Soupmaking." Later, we'll dish up some delicious vegetarian choices, and hear about Native Harvest celebrations.

Thanksgiving is over - but that carcass in the refrigerator refuses to go! We'll come up with ways to turn the rehashed meal into a delicious array of dishes. Later on, we'll fix up heart-healthy recipes with Dr. Richard Collins, the Cooking Cardiologist. We'll also talk wine with Wall Street Columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Breecher, and hear from some French chefs who combine cooking with caring in their efforts.
