10/5/02 Are you ready for a vacation in Italy? Listen
Chef Jim Coleman takes a tour of some of Italy's most beautiful destinations. We'll visit Lungarotti winery in Umbria, and partake in a Roman-style feast at "Ristorante Il Principe" in Pompeii. Winemaker Piero Mastroberradino will show us his vineyards inside the ancient ruins of Pompeii. Later on, we'll take the ferry to the island of Capri and find out how to make local specialties like Limoncello.

More and more kosher products are appearing on our grocery shelves and in our homes. We've discovered the quality of a kosher chicken and the freshness of these ingredients. Forget matzo balls and gefilte fish - during this hour, we'll taste delicious kosher recipes from all over the world. Jim Coleman's guest is New York City restaurateur Levanah Kirschenbaum, author of "Levanha's Table: Kosher Cooking For Everyone." Later on, we'll visit a unique seed saving program in Arizona. Here, ancient crops are being brought back to life! We'll also solve a baker's dozen of every day kitchen problems with the queen of cooking quandaries, Sharon Tyler Herbst.

Why should cooking Chinese food be any more difficult than preparing good Italian food? Jim Coleman's guest is award-winning chef Susanna Foo. She'll give us the techniques and ingredients we need to make delicious Chinese dishes at home. Later on the show, weÕll find out more about the new labeling regulations for organic products and talk with a chef from the successful Whole Foods Market. Finally, food historian Barbara Haber gives us the dish on the bad food of the Roosevelt White House, and shares many other great food stories from her book "From Hardtack to Homefries."

During this hour, we'll choose from a smorgasbord of edible bug recipes. Our guest is David George Gordon, author of The Eat-a-Bug Cookbook. If you prefer your crunchy snack be more on the plant side weÕll talk to Sally Sampson, author of Party Nuts, a cookbook with 50 tasty nut treats. WeÕll also go shopping for pumpkins and find out which varieties work best in the kitchen. Then, weÕll travel from Montana to Alaska with a bicycling chef and have some fun with clever restaurant names.
