The College Basketball Championships are about to come to a breath-taking finale, baseball season is just starting, and sports fans everywhere are pinning their hopes on their teams. Dan's guest is Joe Queenan, author of "True Believers." We'll also discuss how parents can support their kids in playing sports with Dr. Joel Fish, author of "101 Ways to be a Terrific Sports Parent."

Schools and Bullies
Listen via Real Audio
Our images of bullies in schools are usually big kids, older kids, tormenting smaller children. But the reality of bullying is very different. Bullies come in all sizes, ages - and genders. And with the Internet, cell phones and instant messaging, bullying has taken on new dimensions. Research shows that bullying has a strong negative impact on children's self-esteem and their ability to learn. During this hour, we'll hear excerpts from a recent panel discussion on schools and bullying. We'll find out what one school is doing to deal with the issue, and ask students, parents, and educators what they think should be done. The discussion was presented in collaboration with Philadelphia's St. Peter's School Parents' association.

Marriage
Listen via Real Audio
The heated national debate over gay marriage has mostly focused on who should be allowed to get married. But - what is a marriage supposed to be? Is it a legal contract? A promise, a commitment, a religious concept? Dan Gottlieb will discuss our understanding of this union from different perspectives. His guests are Dr. Rebecca Alpert, Gayle Rosenwald Smith, and John Timpane. Alpert is an Associate Professor of Religion and Women's Studies, Temple University, Smith is a family lawyer and author of "Divorce and Money: Everything You Need to Know." John Timpane is commentary page editor for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Hope
Listen via Real Audio
Even when faced with adversity, illness and suffering, people have hope. Hope that things will change for the better, hope for a miracle. Often, hope is the positive force that keeps them going. Join Dr. Dan Gottlieb for the next Voices in the Family, when our guest is Dr. Jerome Groopman. Drawing on his 30-year career in hematology and oncology, Groopman presents stories based on his patients and his own debilitating back injury in his book "The Anatomy of Hope : How People Prevail in the Face of Illness." We'll also hear from Jim Knipfel, author of "Ruining it for Everybody."
