After the Baby
Listen
via Real Audio
After nine months of pregnancy, the new baby is finally home, and now what?
Many couples greatly anticipate the birth of their baby without giving much thought to the changes the newborn will bring to their relationship. Postpartum adjustments sometimes leave the new mom and dad in mental dire straits. The new mom might feel overwhelmed; the new dad might feel neglected. Many women experience periods of sadness and frustrations and report feeling incompetent, overwhelmed, and isolated. Our guest is Nurse Midwife Ruth Wills, of the Pennsylvania Midwifery Associates at Pennsylvania Hospital. We'll talk about the effects of baby on mom as well as dad, and we'll discuss the warning signs of Postpartum Depression, and what can be done to avoid it. We'll also hear from a marriage therapist who will discuss how partners can get through this time, and be supportive of each other.

Holidays and Families
Listen
via Real Audio
Forgiveness is one of the most difficult things to grant a loved one after they have hurt us. The holidays are often a difficult time for families divided by anger, hurt, and gripe. Your family dinner table may have an empty spot belonging to the member who did not feel comfortable attending the function, or who wasn't invited. Other families may not get together at all! Other than dividing families, seemingly irreconcilable differences may cause stress, depression, and even suicide, during this time of year. How can you make the effort to forgive someone who has hurt you, and reunite your family?
We'll talk with Dr. Everett Worthington, family and marriage therapist, and co-author of the book, "To Forgive is Human".
We will also discuss how families who have recently lost a loved one can get through the holidays.
