Independence Mall West became the official address of WHYY when the station moved into refurbished offices in what was the Living History Center. The City of Philadelphia started leasing the former museum to WHYY beginning in 1978, for only $1 per year. Another renovation to the building in the late 1990s would create the present-day home of WHYY.
