1964: WHYY shakes it up, Baby!

Dick Clark's American Bandstand, produced by Philadelphia station WFIL, showcased the best emerging rock 'n' roll and R&B artists of the time. When WFIL moved into a new building in 1964, WHYY took up residence in the same studios at 46th & Market where Philly teens did the "Mashed Potato" and "Pony" to the sounds of Bobby Rydell, Cubby Checker and Frankie Avalon.
